LISTEN: Young upcoming musician hopes to release first single soon

RABIE RIDGE - A young musician from Rabie Ridge may not have released a single yet, but his talent has awed those who have heard him sing at events and at a local restaurant in Midrand.

Donald Thobela, also known as King Don, is a 20-year-old who has chosen to pursue a music career and is excited by the response he is receiving from the community whenever he sings.

The Afro-jazz artist recently sang for a group of graduates at Rabie Ridge community hall and had the place abuzz with excitement. King Don hopes to release his popular song Hope in June, and said because he had sung the song so much before its release, some people now knew it and it was bound to be a success.

“For the past five years I worked on my music and I can’t wait for people to finally have a chance to listen to it,” he said.

Speaking about his community, Rabie Ridge, he said there were a lot of talented young people in Rabie Ridge, and they must not give up on their dreams but work hard and stay focused.

King Don’s next performance is at an event in Katlehong on 14 February.
