Roxette and Watershed sell out TicketPro Dome

JOBURG - Big Concerts has confirmed that South Africa’s number one acoustic rock band, Watershed, will support Roxette on the South African leg of their celebrated world tour.

Big Concerts has confirmed that South Africa’s number one acoustic rock band, Watershed, will support Roxette on the South African leg of their celebrated world tour,  – The 30th Anniversary Tour, at the TicketPro Dome for which tickets were sold out on 18 December.

Since their breakthrough in 2000 with their smash hit single, Indigo Girl, South African rock icons Watershed have solidified their reputation as one of the most respected and decorated bands to come out of the southern tip of Africa.

Their distinctive melodic guitar sounds blend with the sultry tones of the voice of the lead singer and songwriter, Craig Hinds, to create a soothing and classic rock sound that is easily recognisable and yet utterly unique.

Their albums and singles have consistently been rewarded with gold and platinum status both locally and abroad.

Roxette’s ongoing world tour will lead up to the celebration of the band’s 30th anniversary this year.

The 30th Anniversary Tour has been celebrated by critics and fans all over the world, and the band has sold out several legendary arenas such as The O2 Arena in London, Olympia in Paris and Olympiahalle in Munich.

The ultimate Roxette collection, Roxette the 30 biggest hits, is on sale now in support of the tour.

It is this year that sees Roxette kicking off their 30th anniversary year and the South African tour dates, in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town – marking the start of this very special year in Roxette’s record-breaking history.

The Independent noted, “Marie still hits the big notes that were Roxette’s signature on numbers like <ct:Italic>It Must Have Been Love and Listen to Your Heart. The crowd, some holding aloft actual ’80s-era lighters, as opposed to backlit mobiles, lapped up Spending My Time  and went mad for The Look and Dressed for Success.”

The sold-out concert was also reviewed by <ct:Italic>The Daily Mirror.

“Roxette landed on the O2 stage with a Crash! Boom! Bang! sending the crowd into a pop frenzy with their greatest hits from the last 30 years. It was a night of nostalgia bursting with energy as the dynamic duo of Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson played tracks including Dressed For Success, Dangerous, ItalicBig L and <ct:Italic>Sleeping in My Car.”

Roxette and Watershed hit the TicketPro Dome on 31 January.
