Midrand upcoming musician talks about his music

MIDRAND - Katlego Nchoe, also known as Succezz Lepora, started singing in church at the young age of eight and wanted to take music further when he turned 15 and participated in a TV show where contestants sing to an audience.

Nchoe said, “At first I was drawn to gospel music and Kwaito, but later chose to sing hip-hop music. I have done a 16 track mixtape called Tsela Kgopo, which means a rough road, and have had the chance to do radio interviews and was a finalist for Best New Comer in one of South Africa’s hip-hop magazines.”

He added that he also recorded a song for DJ Lemonka’s mixtape compilation titled Motswakotape Vol. 2. “My latest song is called Ba chitse Daar featuring Bongani Fassie. The song was released on 6 November on iTunes and datafile host,” he said.

Nchoe said he is inspired mostly by himself, but also follows the footprints of musicians such as HHP, Tuks Senganga, Eminem and The Game. Speaking about the music industry he said, “There is room and many opportunities for new and upcoming artists in the industry, especially for artists who do their craft in both their native languages and English. Artists such as Grammy winners, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, have grown beyond SA, and DJ Fresh and Black Coffee are selling out in venues overseas.”
