Mix FM and Midrand Reporter speak to Justin Serrao

MIDRAND - Radio presenter Roxy Blows of Mix FM and Midrand Reporter had a chat with South African singer and songwriter Justin Serrao at the stations's new studios on 16th Road.

Serrao said he would be the opening act for The Parlotones’ upcoming United Kingdom Tour in March. He said, “I am excited to be going to the UK with The Parlotones. It is a big deal to me, I admire their work.”

Serrao featured as the opening act for The Parlotones during their unplugged Winter Tour in July last year. He began his career in 2011 and has worked with many of South Africa’s top musicians having shared line-ups with fellow artists such as Jimmy Neviz, Jeremy Loops and Gangs of Ballet.

Serrao said music had always been a part of his life. “My uncle would play the guitar at the dinner table which awakened a curiosity about music in me. At age 16 I joined a band, then went solo, venturing into a fusion of acoustic and country rock.”

In August last year, Justin released his second full length album, Forget & Let Loose which was co-produced with David Grevler. The album debuted at number 1 on the iTunes Rock Chart. He is currently working on his latest single, Sucker which he plans to debut on the upcoming Parlotones UK tour. Serrao said he wanted to involve his fans in sharing ideas for the music video for Sucker. He will release snippets of the single during the tour.

“If you have friends and family in the UK please ask them to attend The Parlotones show, they will not be disappointed,” he said.
