Cedarwood School visits Riversands Primary School to celebrate Mandela Day

Over R20 000 was donated towards the beanie drive, enabling most of the children at Riversands Primary to have a beanie to wear to school this winter.

On Mandela Day, Cedarwood School staff spent the morning at Riversands Primary School.

The preparatory outreach team, college outreach, and RCL handed out beanies, sandwiches, biscuits, muffins, and delicious warm cups of hot chocolate to more than 1 000 learners.

Cedarwood College outreach coordinator Thulile Gambushe said it was a heartwarming morning of giving as one of Cedarwood’s core values was ‘we care’.

“Mandela Day gave us the opportunity at Riversands Primary School to show how much we care. We give because we know what it is like to receive,” said Gambushe.

The preparatory school learners made jam sandwiches in class for the outreach team, while the college learners made cups of hot chocolate, and prepared food to eat, all served with love.
