Indlovu FC returns to winning ways in style

Indlovu FC made a stunning comeback to their winning ways after defeating Prestige Football Academy 3–1 in the Hollywoodbets Joburg men’s regional league (Yellow Stream) match on January 31 at Rabie Ridge Stadium.

Indlovu’s victory was a much-needed boost for the team after they suffered their second loss of the season in 10 games, at the hands of Gomtown Boyz on January 28.

Indlovu continued to pile pressure on the visitors and forced Prestige keeper Morobi Morobi to make some crucial saves.

The deadlock was finally broken by Indlovu’s Sello Kgodu in the 25th minute, who was quick to react to Banele Mazibuko’s rebounded shot.

The goal boosted Indlovu’s confidence, and they continued to dominate the game. Lawrence Mohlala came close to doubling the lead, but his shot hit the side netting just before halftime.

The second half saw Indlovu switch to a four-man defence as they introduced Lukhanyo ‘Ntsimbi’ Mapeyi. The move paid off, as they looked more organised and in control.

Ndumiso Magubane doubled the lead in the 67th minute with a header after some individual brilliance from Shanen Booysen on the right flank to pick him out.

Indlovu’s new signing from relegated Spoilers, Sibusiso Matshingana, was outstanding in the midfield, as he destroyed everything Prestige was throwing in the middle.

Prestige tried to get back into the game but their efforts were in vain. Thembinkosi Slabbert’s own goal in the 82nd minute sealed the victory for Indlovu.

Although Prestige managed to score a consolation goal through Professor ‘Junior’ Ndlovu in the dying minutes of the game, it was too little too late.

Meanwhile, in the Black Poison match, Magubane bagged his brace in the 4–2 win. Booysen and youngster Sakhi Mpolweni also added their names to the scoresheet.

It is noteworthy that Mpolweni became the youngest player to score for Indlovu at the age of 16.

The victories are a great morale booster for the team, and they will be looking to continue their winning streak in the upcoming matches.
