Local cyclist completes a 865km cycling journey and now sets sights on the next challenge

Although his next feat may seem impossible, he believes that with the right mindset and support, anything is achievable.

Meli Ndlovu, a local resident and a passionate advocate against drug abuse, recently achieved a remarkable feat by completing an arduous 865km cycling trip from Midrand, Joburg to his birthplace, Bulawayo, Pumula North in Zimbabwe.

This 42-year-old cyclist undertook this courageous journey to raise awareness about the devastating impact of drug abuse on the youth of African countries.

Ndlovu’s journey was not only physically challenging but also emotionally demanding as he cycled through various terrains and weather conditions, all while carrying the message of hope and inspiration to the communities he passed by.

Ndlovu explained that he is a man who is dedicated to empowering young people to make healthy choices and stay away from drugs. He has already made a significant impact on many lives through his inspiring journey.

Ndlovu along with his friends and teammates cycled for 33hours from December 18 to 20 for them to reach Zimbabwe.

Different groups of cyclists and escorts joined them along the way inspiring and motivating them to keep going.

Despite the challenging journey, Ndlovu shared that the exciting part of this trip was not just cycling, but the fact that they were never alone.

He expressed his gratitude towards his followers, friends, cyclists, teammates, escorts, and countries like the UK, Canada, Ireland, America, Botswana, and Dubai for their support.

“Their encouragement and support helped us stay motivated throughout the journey.”

Ndlovu is still in Zimbabwe for a few more days before leaving. He told Midrand Reporter that he will use public transport instead of cycling on his return to South Africa.

In the future, he plans to embark on even more significant journeys, including cycling across Africa from Cape to Cairo.

Although this feat may seem impossible, Ndlovu believes that with the right mindset and support, anything is achievable.

“I believe that having enough power, experience, focus, concentration, love, support, escort photographer, medical aid assistance, and funds can help anyone achieve anything they set their minds to,” he concluded.
