Successful CSA Pathway Awards held at Midrand Vodaworld
This was the first in-person ceremony since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and signalled a return to the vibrant domestic cricket scene that entertained domestic cricket fans across the country.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently celebrated development cricket by hosting the CSA Pathway Awards.
The took place at Vodaworld in Midrand and honoured the achievements and contributions of players, coaches and administrators at various levels to cricket growth in the country.
MEC for Gauteng Sports, Arts, and Culture Morakane Mosupye said cricket was a team sport that thrived on collaboration, unity, and the pursuit of excellence ‘and we are here to celebrate those values’.
“To the players, coaches, and support staff, your commitment, skill, and passion for the game have been nothing short of remarkable,” said Mosupye.
“You have pushed boundaries, defied odds, and displayed true sportsmanship, both on and off the field.”
SA U19 Women’s Karabo Meso was named CSA U19 Women’s Player of the Year after her display behind the stumps in the inaugural ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Kwena Maphaka was the biggest winner of the day, claiming the CSA Boys U16 Player of the Tournament and CSA U19 Men’s Player of the Year after an electric run in the three National Weeks — CSA Boys U16, CSA U19 Khaya Majola Week, and CSA Cubs Week.
Tazmin Brits returned home with the coveted CSA Women’s Provincial Player of the Year, for a third consecutive year.
CSA head of Cricket Pathways, Edward Khoza said, “These awards provide an opportunity to recognise exceptional individuals and entities in our age groups, ancillary members, and all those who inspire a healthy pathway. Through these awards, CSA seeks to inspire others to continue striving for excellence in cricket.
“Congratulations to all our winners for their resilience and spirit that unites our cricketing community.”
