Midrand Spoilers FC Skipper Lukhanyo ‘Ntsimbi’ Mapeyi joins Indlovu FC

Ntsimbi hopes to be part of the Indlovu FC squad leading the team to the playoffs after being a member of the Spoilers FC squad that was promoted to the Regional League during the 2019/20 season

After nearly six years with Midrand Spoilers FC, Lukhanyo ‘Ntsimbi’ Mapeyi has joined Indlovu FC which has been promoted to the Safa Johannesburg Men’s Regional League

“As much as I loved the team [Spoilers], I’ll miss everything about amajita [the guys] because I considered them my brothers. The team spirit we had is also something I will miss, as we tended to come back to win our matches after trailing from behind,” he said.

Although Spoilers finished the Regional League in fourth place with 39 points last season, two points behind their archrivals Super Rovers FC, Ntsimbi felt that Indlovu was the better team since they finished on 65 points and 71 goals in the Midrand Senior Premier League to earn their promotion.

Lukhanyo ‘Ntsimbi’ Mapeyi says Indlovu FC has a strong defence but is confident of making the line-up.

Indlovu had a tight defence last season and proved that by only conceding 11 goals in 24 games. Ntsimbi said he knew he had to fight for a starting spot as he was a central defender.

“I am settling in well because I know most of the players and I’ve been watching their off-season games. They do have a strong defence but I trust myself that I will make the line-up.

“Joining Indlovu is a risk I am willing to take as a player with high hopes of achieving something worthwhile. Despite its first year in the Regional League, the mandate we got from the management is to see the team making the playoffs this season, and the quality of the players they have is unmatched.”
