Poplar Academy’s two houses go head to head at sports day

MIDRAND – Ananda Potgieter said that learners enjoyed the games which was the most important thing for the school on the day.


Poplar Academy held a school sports day for their senior primary school learners on October 21.

The learners of Grade 4 to 7 represented two of the school’s houses, Aspen and Oak in athletics, gymnastics, soccer, and netball challenges on the day.

School coach Nelson Midzi said they applauded the learners for their participation.

“I am loving the outcome. I think from what I saw, the learners are working hard,” he added.

Ananda Potgieter, head of the department for the intermediate phase said, “The kids enjoyed it and they had lots of fun which is the most important thing for us… This is our yearly sports day to make sure that the learners participate in all events. This year we did it a little bit differently, we did not just keep it at track and field events, we put some gymnastics and other games in as well,” she concluded.
