Midrand Cricket Club excited for a new season

MIDRAND – The Midrand Cricket club have resumed practice to prepare for the upcoming season.

The Midrand Cricket Club has reopened and started practice and preparation for their season.

Chairperson of the club Tshoko Moloko said, “It’s now official, amateur cricket clubs have started preparing for the rescheduled club season which is set to resume in January. It’s been a long wait as the world has had to come to grips with the Covid-19 reality.”

Moloko added, “As reality has kicked in with the new normal, amateur cricket has been given the green light to resume with Midrand Cricket Club officially resuming practice with the start of preseason training at Summerhill International College in Midrand on

22 October.”

The senior club players are currently preparing for an upcoming in-house T20 interclub friendlies to be hosted at the Olifantsfontein Oval for the whole month of November, which will potentially be followed by a 6s friendly games at the end of the year.

“Midrand Cricket Club juniors coaching will be in full swing from the beginning of November onwards as the junior season will also simultaneously start with the senior club season as well.

“As the club training resumes it comes with new rules and regulations according to the new way of life based around the existence of the Covid-19 virus which is yet to have an existing vaccine.”

He concluded, “As such group sessions shall be restricted to maximum five per group. Screening and sanitation will become a lifestyle as this will allow us to enjoy the game of cricket we love as a community.

“All interested cricket fans, players and pundits are welcome to register their interest with the club through our social media platforms where more information will be provided.”
