Tshuma Stingers awards its players

MIDRAND – The Midrand players were awarded for their performance last year.

The Midrand giants, Tshuma Stingers held their in-house rugby awards to celebrate their club’s players.

Tshuma Stingers founder and coach, Ndumiso Tshuma, said players from the junior, women’s and senior men’s teams were awarded on 7 March. “We wanted to recognise those that did well throughout the course of the season, as well as players that are growing and showing development on and of the field. We also recognised coaches that played a vital role throughout the course of the season.”

Former professional rugby player, Steve Meyer, came to support and encourage the players. “We also had Steve Meyer who has a whole lot of experience in the area of professional rugby.

He played a vital role in advising players on how to improve and recover after matches, as well as how one can strike a balance in life in general, around family, work, education and finding time to actually be with their friends.”

Tshuma added that the aim of the awards is to maintain a balance and see their athletes become better people in life.

“Our selling point is not telling our players we want to see them training and becoming professional players alone.

But in the same sense, I must say that it is part and parcel of our aims to see the players grow and become professional players and high-performance athletes representing our Golden Lions Rugby union or the national or international teams because we have produced players who have represented the province and nations.”

“My hopes are to become a better leader and perform at the best of my abilities and to also see Stingers rugby club playing at a higher club rugby level.
