Midrand Cricket Club enjoys success against Germiston Cricket Club

MIDRAND – The Midrand Cricket Club promotions side came up on top against a confident Germiston Cricket Club.

Midrand Cricket Club‘s promotion team enjoyed some great success against Germiston Cricket Club on 26 January.

Chairperson of the Midrand club Tshoko Moloko said they had suffered a blow after their directors’ team lost to Benoni Northerns.

He added, “However, this pain was diluted as the news of the promotion side’s win against holiday table-toppers Germiston Cricket Club filtered through.”

The confident Germiston side chose to bat first at the Midrand Cricket Club’s Olifantsfontein home ground and stumbled to a low score of 108.

In reply, the home team passed the total for the loss of only five wickets in 28 overs. “Some standout performances for the home side on the day were Leon Gava and Thando Mrawu who led the bowling and were sweetly backed up by Siyabulela Dyani and the spin trio of Rajesh Waran, Sean January and Abhinav Goel.

“It was a big welcome back for Rajesh Waran who hadn’t represented Midrand CC in almost a year because of a toe injury. William Mokgetloane took honours of taking the best catch on the day. Captain Molope Molope had done all the hard work of steering his ship with a patient 35 to set up the bonus point win.”
