Hockey girls score big

KYALAMI – The Beaulieu College Hockey teams performed exceptionally well at the Pullen and Howell Hockey Tournaments.


Beaulieu College Girls‘ Hockey team made their school proud by making history and winning the Pullen and Howell Girls’ Hockey Tournaments.

The Puellen and Howell Trophy is an annual girl hockey tournament for U18 and U16 hockey teams and which brings together some of the top-hockey playing schools in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Beaulieu College participated alongside Kingsmead College and St Stithians College among others.

Spokesperson for the school, Lynette Gray, said the team has enjoyed great success in the past hockey season.

She added, “It is a prestige to not only play in the Howell and Pullen Hockey tournaments but to win gold in both the Howell and Pullen Girls’Hockey finals. It is sheer victory.”

The U18 hockey team played against Garsfontein Hoërskool in the Pullen trophy final at Redhill School. After a hard game, they went to a tense penalty shoot-out where Beaulieu College came up on top 4–3.

Gray added, “As this was the first time the U16s had entered the Howell Trophy, they competed in the B section which proved to be extremely competitive. After remaining unbeaten through[out] the tournament, Beaulieu College’s U16s won their final 3–1 against Hoërskool Waterkloof.”
