Super Rovers FC on a roll

MIDRAND – Super Rovers FC qualified on the Johannesburg SAB League semi-finals after defeating the KYP team.

Midrand’s Super Rovers Football Club defeated KYP 4–3 in the Johannesburg SAB League in a match played in Soweto on 23 June.

Super Rovers coach, Lebogang Phaka said their first season in the league was exciting and fun but stressful and extremely demanding at the same time.

“It is an honour to be the first football club from Rabie Ridge to compete at this level and I must say that our dream to bring the community together to fill up the stadium at every home game was realised,” he added.

Phaka said the team had learned so much and they had advanced to the semi-finals of the annual Johannesburg Cup which initially involved 64 teams. “This is a super achievement and as the coach of the team, I must express how proud I am of all the players, management, supporters and most importantly Puleng Technologies.

“We really punched above our weight this season being from such humble beginnings. We played against other teams who are well resourced and yet we remained competitive and we will only get better.”

He urged the entire community of Midrand to support the team which he believed was destined for greatness. “We would also like to urge businesses and individuals alike to collaborate with us in building the biggest club in Midrand that we can all be proud of.”
