Who will get the bragging rights for the offseason Soweto derby between the two bulls of SA football?

JOBURG -– The Carling Black Label Champion Cup between Chiefs and Pirates gets underway this Saturday at the FNB Stadium.

Its all system go for the 2019 off-season Soweto derby between the two giant elephant bulls of South African football Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Champion Cup at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The hot question on the lips of all football lovers is which of the two bulls will gore the other and come out victorious in this competition which has assumed the dubious title of being referred to as the ‘Beer Cup’. But all we know is that when two bull elephants fight, the grass suffers the most and we hope this time around the derby will live up to its expectations.

Since its inception in 2011, the Buccaneers have won the trophy four times while their nemesis Amakhosi have only lifted it twice. Chiefs are the current holders of the trophy they last won in 2017 as the 2018 edition was cancelled due to the Fifa World Cup in Russia.

The event has long been sold out several weeks before Saturday’s kick off and public transportation has already been put in motion to transport the multitudes of the clubs’ faithfuls.

There will also been strict traffic control measures in place for those fans wanting to use their own vehicle to the stadium to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. These traffic control measures will be implemented as early as 7am in the precinct and the general public [non-spectators] are advised to avoid the stadium precinct from 10am until 7pm.

Spectators are warned not to bring any prohibited items such as sharp pointed objects, any form of liquor, metal objects such as cans, offensive posters, banners and flags, a full list of which is available on the website of the Stadium Management SA.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and will be entertained by a host of entertainers including BET award-winning musician, Sho Madjozi, Stokie (Amapiano DJ), Dr Malinga and Gqom princess, and TDK Macassette.
