Midrand Cricket Club had a host of strong performances as their three teams began the second half of season on 12 and 13 January.
Midrand’s SA4 League development team emerged victorious against Benoni Northerns in a T20 clash.
Captained by Bharat Chennupati, the team won by a comfortable 23 runs. Batsman Ajay Kunisetty registered a half-century to guide Midrand to a mammoth 189.
The club’s Saturday First Side also played Benoni Northerns in a T20 encounter but were not as successful.
Although Midrand’s Bongani Caba scored an incredible 92 runs, in the end, they were no match for Northerns who won by 61 runs.

The club’s premier league aspirations were boosted by an emphatic bowling display in Olifantfontein by the Sunday First Side. Midrand bundled out Wattville Cricket Club cheaply after a destructive spell of bowling by Vis Govender, who finished with figures of 6/27 in his five-over spell.
Strong batting performances from Midrand’s Rajeshwaran Thirumalaiswamy (40) and Mandilakho Dipha who hit a half-century, ensured the victory and kept their Premier League hopes very much alive.
The club is always looking for new players and interested parties can contact the club at midrandcricketclub@gmail.com or on 072 908 8701.
