#HerLifeMatters: 200 runners stride for cause [VIDEO]

MIDRAND – Various running clubs from Gauteng participated in the marathon.

About 200 runners participated in the annual half-marathon organised by the Midrand Striders, together with Flightsure and Cova Advisory, at Inanda Country Base on 19 August.

Participants braced the cold weather and took part in a 21km, 10km and a 5km fun run and walk. Runners came from various running clubs across Gauteng and some had the opportunity to walk and run for a social cause.

One of the clubs, Fat Cats Athletics Club, joined in the festivities running their Women’s Month campaign #HerLifeMatters. The campaign was running for South African women and children affected by abuse.

“Despite the cold and overcast weather conditions, the event was an outstanding success thanks to all our club members and the assistance on the roads from the Metro police,” said race convener Glenn Andrews.
