Stingers secure semi-final spot

MIDRAND – Midrand side Tshuma Stingers sit comfortably at the top of the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge.

Tshuma Stingers Rugby Club senior team is sitting comfortably at the top of the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge after two good wins.

Stingers beat Eldoronians 54–10 and Kagiso Rugby Club 12–0 to secure a home semi-final in the competition.

Against Eldoronians, Stingers made their intentions clear when Divine Kawadza went over for their first try and then it was one-way traffic as the log leaders crashed over for seven more five-pointers.

The final round of games saw Stingers travel to Krugersdorp to face Kagiso. The opening exchanges of the game were scrappy, however, the Stingers managed to shake off their early jitters and settled down. They crossed for two tries, one being converted for the whitewash scoreline.

Stingers’ Malusi Mkhize breaks through the defence of Eldoronians.

Stingers are the defending champions of the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge and they remain resolute that they will defend their title this year.
