Kyalami derby result a mirror reflection

KYALAMI – Local soccer derby finishes with a result that was the opposite of last year's.

Last year, Northerns Football Club inflicted a 5–2 thrashing against their Kyalami neighbours, Touch Perfect, in an U7 friendly match, and as fate would have it the roles were reversed in a league fixture this year.

The Kyalami derby played out between the clubs again when Touch Perfect hosted Northerns for an U9 Easterns League Division 4 match at Kyalami Preparatory School on 28 July.

Touch Perfect, playing their first season in the Easterns League, has found it a breeze. They were undefeated in nine games before the match and were the favourites this time around.

The team wasted no time as they pressed forward and used their home-ground advantage well to score three goals before half-time.

The second half was no different and when the final whistle blew Touch Perfect could celebrate a 5–0 victory.

Winning coach, Titus Tshelane said his side had been too good for every team they had played against in the league and looked forward to promotion at the end of the season.

His team will also play in the quarter-final of the cup at a date to be confirmed.

“I know it sounds harsh but my attitude is to coach little boys like they are young men,” he responded when asked why his team had been so successful in their first official season.

“We don’t just focus on having fun but also on tactical play and playing to win.”

The Northerns Football Club’s U9 boys aim to come back strong this season.

Northerns owner, Theodora Crozét congratulated Touch Perfect on their win, saying they had come a long way since last year.

“You can’t win them all,” she said.

“Our U9 boys keep a positive attitude and will come back. They have the dedication needed and will put in the effort to finish the season well.”
