Kyalami star vaulters shine again in Belgium tournament
KYALAMI – Erin Muller and Asea Pozniakow have once again proved too good for Europe's best vaulters.
Kyalami’s star equestrian vaulters can boast once again of their success abroad.
Erin Muller and Asea Pozniakow of Riba Stables Vaulting Club earned gold and silver medals respectively, at the Competition Vaulting International Belgium 2018.
They finished in the same positions at the tournament last year, but while they competed in the one-star division on that occasion, this time they competed in the two-star division – the highest for vaulters their age.

The two 12-year-olds spent the weekend of 11 to 13 May in Moorsele and only had to compete in two events each.
“The compulsory set had the same exercises for everyone so they were judged on their performances and how well they did it,” said Riba Stables owner, Barbie Gertenbach.
“The freestyle set is one minute and the vaulters can choose what they do, but they must show suppleness, strength, balance and coordination, and use all parts of the horse. The exercises must also be unique.”
Furthermore, the riskier the exercises the more points can be earned but also the more points might be deducted if mistakes are made.
The girls scored high in both their sets and beat six other vaulters in their group who hailed from France, Belgium, Germany and Great Britain.
Gertenbach put their success down to their talent, dedication, committed coaching by her son Jason Gertenbach, and the practice horse itself, Riverdance.
“I would say Erin’s greatest strength is her big match temperament while Asea is incredibly supple and still strong.”
