Northerns Football Club looks to rebuild after 6–1 defeat

KYALAMI – Local soccer side struggles in U9 match after players were unavailable.

Northerns Football Club’s teams have hit the ground running in the Easterns League this season.

But you cannot win them all as they say, and in their second game in division two, the club’s U9A side hit a stumbling block on 5 May.

The Kyalami outfit hosted Springs Old Boys at Beaulieu College and had to source players from its division four side after several players were unavailable.

While the youngsters held their own to only concede a single goal in the first half, the second period saw a flurry of goals.

The result was a 1–6 defeat for the home side.

“The boys gave their best but unfortunately we were missing many of our players due to school soccer festivals,” said coach Nevada Manna.

“This disrupted the flow of the team, and the opponents were a very well-drilled, well-run team.”

He added that he had high hopes for his side to develop its soccer skills, and the amount of hard work they put in training would determine the results for the rest of the season.

Manna highlighted passing and finishing as key areas to work on in upcoming training sessions.

The Northerns U9s will next play the Benoni All Stars away on 2 June and host the Boca Juniors Football Club at Beaulieu College on 9 June.
