Corporates, neon and a race track

KYALAMI – Up from 7 000 runners last year, a whopping 10 000 participants made up 1 000 teams and took to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 27 October.

The second annual Baron Corporate Run4Good saw even greater numbers, as businesses and social groups competed for glory and a good cause.

Up from 7 000 runners last year, a whopping 10 000 participants made up 1 000 teams and took to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 27 October.

Wearing neon yellow shirts for the night run, they ran a single lap around the track – 5km in total.

“It has been a fantastic vibe, people have had so much fun,” said event director, Mike Sham.

“Companies have used this for team building and to have fun together. It is good to get out the office and break a sweat together. After, ards they enjoyed a beer or two.”

The run was in aid of Reach for a Dream Foundation, a non-profit organisation that assists children with life-threatening illnesses by helping them realise their dreams in life.

While the atmosphere was vibrant at the run, and some runners dressed up and painted their faces, it was also competitive. Companies and social groups made it a matter of pride who could beat each other, and a word or two was spoken about bets being made and money being put on the line.

Rubber Duc and Kurt Darren performed on stage to top off the end of what was already a memorable event.

Sham concluded that the Run4Good was getting better each year, and next year the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit would see even more people and an even bigger event.
