Baroka urges fans to vote for the goal

JOBURG - Top Fifa award beckons for Baroka FC goalie's classy goal.

Oscarine Masuluke’s top-drawer goal may not have managed to persuade die-hard South African partisan soccer fans to vote for him, but the Baroka FC goalie is now set to shine on the much bigger football stage.

Shunned at home at the prestigious Premier Soccer League #PSLAwards, Masuluke’s goal has been nominated by the Fifa panel of adjudicators for the top Fifa Puskas Award.

Baroka FC expressed their delight at Masuluke’s nomination and called on the football fraternity in the country and beyond to vote for his goal and ensure it wins the coveted prize.

“The mere nomination in itself is an indication that South Africa can compete against the best in the world and the club would like to congratulate the player for the goal he scored against a big team like Orlando Pirates and elevating the name and image of the team, the PSL and the country at large,” said club media officer, Mashile Jimmy Ngobeni.

“This will again console the supporters who voted for the same goal in the PSL awards but unfortunately it went the other way. We, therefore, request the football fans and the entire country to vote for the goal.”
