Dynamites cock-a-hoop

MIDRAND – Mbokodo Dynamites netball team hosted a 15-team netball tournament to celebrate their first anniversary.

The Mbokodo Dynamites netball team hosted a netball tournament on 16 September at Midrand High School to celebrate the team’s first anniversary. Fifteen teams from across Gauteng participated in the tournament.

Duduzile Bhembe, the founder and captain of Mbokodo Dynamites, said the team practices every Saturday morning at Christ Church Preparatory School and College.

“The team is a part of the African National Congress Women’s League branch named Mbokodo, and I am currently planning to register the team because at the moment the team is just a community-based sports activity,” said Bhembe.

“All the participants are of working age who play netball for fun, and fitness and health reasons outside of their work and family life.”

Bhembe added that she was pleased with the turnout at the tournament and the commitment from all the teams, and hoped that the event would only grow from here and attract more sponsors, teams and young people that would like to play netball.

The tournament was sponsored by Thuso IT Technology which supplied the kit for Mbokodo. Mzansi Magic supplied Isibaya T-shirts, MTN donated caps, bottled water and bibs, and refreshments and prizes were sponsored by individual ANC members.
