A sting in their tale
MIDRAND – Tshuma Stingers will be taking their U13 players to Ireland for the Blackrock College RFC annual rugby tournament
Through their successful rugby development programme, Fury Mazda Midrand family meet and play, Tshuma Stingers are building a junior rugby club powerhouse.
The club now has rugby teams from U9s right up to U18s. Tshuma Stingers is a public benefit organisation formed in 2013 with the vision to develop rugby at grassroots level.
“We are grateful to have passionate rugby coaches and partners such as schools, Fury Mazda Midrand and the Gauteng Department of Sports who continually make rugby development possible in our community,” said Ndumiso Tshuma, CEO and founder of the club.
“We have surely made giant strides this year bringing the Golden Lions Senior Grand Challenge Cup to Midrand and injecting a junior club into the competition structures.”
Stingers will also be taking a team of U13 players to Dublin, Ireland to participate in the Blackrock College RFC annual rugby tournament on 1 October.
Tshuma added, “This is a great opportunity for the players who have never been on a plane before or those who come from disadvantaged communities. The selected few are expected to have fun but at the same time improve their game, learning as much as they can.
“A special thank you goes to David van Zuidam from Blackrock College RFC, Trevor van den Berg from Impi Sports Tours, Bernerd Blom of Fury Mazda Midrand and Boyce Joko from the Department of Sports and Recreation for making this tour [possible].”
All expenses have been paid by Blackrock College RFC.
