Resilience and persistence pay off for Midrand rugby

MIDRAND – Two years of preparation has earned the Midrand Rugby U16 team top honours.

The U16 Midrand Rugby team finished top of the log in the Beeld Challenge C pool.

The team played eight games, won six and lost two. One of the coaches of the team Kwazi Shangase said they worked hard and long hours to produce these results.

“We would like to put some spotlight on the excellent job done by our coaches and the school [Midrand High] rugby administration. Coach Minenhle Dlamini spent two years building and preparing this team for this very day, where they win an entire league,” said Shangase.

Shangase added that the U16 boys showed resilience and great persistence. “They have proved that every battle counts for something, win or lose, we keep pushing. Our boys have made history in the league and at Midrand High School. No Midrand rugby team has won a league since the start of the Midrand Rugby Development structure.”
