Tshuma Stingers putting Midrand on rugby map

MIDRAND – Tshuma Stingers defeated the Alexandra Wolves 18–0 in a GLRU Senior Grand Challenge.

 

Midrand rugby club, Tshuma Stingers beat Alexandra Wolves 18–0 in a match played at Midrand High School.

“These were the first league matches of the Golden Lions Rugby Union Senior Grand Challenge that will see six teams battle for glory, one game after another, until September when the last team is standing, and we assure you it will be Tshuma Stingers who will lift the trophy,” said the CEO and founder of the Tshuma Stingers Ndumiso Tshuma.

In the match, Tanner Fox of Tshuma Stingers set his team on a path to victory when he scored the first try of the match 17 minutes into the first half. Teammate Nathan Kok scored a second try with Stingers going into half-time 10–0 up.

In the second half, Stingers’ Lwando Yiliwe slotted a penalty and Edmund Braatvedt scored a third try for the home side to seal the victory.

Tshuma said, “We congratulate Olefile Mamoepa, Edmund Braatvedt, Pascal Langa, Tsepo Seakhoa, Caleb Schwarp, Happy Masimege, Malusi Mkize, Hlumelo Kama and Lwando Yiliwe on their debut.”

The Tshuma Stingers will host the Mazda Midrand family meet and play event and play the Eldoronians Rugby Club on 22 April at Midrand High School.
