MIDRAND – Local soccer league resumes with tight competition.

 

The Midrand Local Football Association League resumed on 22 January with 16 teams in action.

Eight teams played at Kopanong Stadium while the other eight played at Ivory Park Stadium.

Friendship Town beat Tiger Boys 3–2, Klipfontein FC sent Eleven Stars home after beating them 2–0, Makang Supers defeated Dzumeri United 1–0 and Erasmus Sekhukhune beat Spoilers 3–2, all at the Kopanong Stadium.

At Ivory Park Stadium, Devillage gave Mighty Stars a 3–0 thrashing, Midrand Rovers beat Mighty Tigers 3–1, Sentimental IKD claimed a 4–1 victory over Rabie Ridge and Mighty Stars won 2–1 against Chloorkop FC.

As things stand, Klipfontein FC leads the log with 21 points from eight games including seven victories and one loss.

Chairperson of the association, Bob Maredi, encouraged communities to come out in their numbers to support the games.

“We invite residents of Midrand to support the games and we are pleased with the support we have been receiving so far,” Maredi said.
