MKCC kick-start second half of the season

MIDRAND – MKCC kick-starting the season with a new home ground.

The Midrand Knights Cricket Club (MKCC) ended off last year with excitement as the team will be moving their home base from Halfway House Primary School to the Marlboro Stadium, this year.

The chairman of the club, Jeremy Meiring said it was an exceptional first half of the 2016/17 season, that saw numerous records broken, milestones achieved and a new team entered into the Gauteng Cricket Board leagues.

The club’s three teams played 24 matches, winning 14 and losing seven, with three draws in the mix.

The club’s SA4 team is currently in third position on the log, with the SA5 and SU6 teams occupying the second spot in their respective leagues.

Meiring reflected on other achievements last year, including the formidable partnerships formed with the main sponsor CRI Pumps and secondary sponsor OBT.

“MKCC’s goal is to bag at least one league title when the season ends this year, and for all the teams to gain promotion. With the start we have, I have no doubt that we will achieve it,” said Meiring.

The second half of the league season kicked-off on 7 January.
