Local coaches awarded

IVORY PARK – Local coaches are ready to start grooming future stars.

Eight local coaches were awarded their South African Football Association (Safa) D Licence coaching certificates by the Midrand Local Football Association at Ivory Park stadium.

The coaches commenced their six-week training in November last year and only received their certificates a year later.

One of the coaches, Lawrence Mpya said he felt fortunate to be part of the training programme and was happy that he finally received his certificate. “We want to thank the association for picking us from grass-roots and allowing us this opportunity. We will continue working close with the association and further our training to another level,” he said.

Chairperson of the Midrand association, Bob Maredi said he hoped this was the beginning of great things for the coaches who will be grooming future football stars of the country. “We are looking forward to working with you [the coaches] and I want you to grow to executive positions in the football association,” he said. “I would also like to caution you about your conduct towards players because that can make or break a player. I want to see you produce the best players in the country.”

The coaches are expected to conduct their Safa C Licence training next year.
