ILLOVO – Effective exercise programmes, providing the guidance to help clients achieve their personal wellness goals.

The Elite Functional Conditioning Centre is the functional tool of the Wanderers Sports Medical Centre.

The conditioning centre offers platinum standard fitness programming, and each and every client undergoes a comprehensive consultation and health appraisal process to screen for risk factors and symptoms of chronic cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic and orthopaedic diseases to optimise safety during exercise testing and participation.

Aubrey Tapiwa Ndisengei is the practice manager and strength and conditioning coach at the centre. He is a fitness professional who uses an individualised approach to assess, motivate, educate, and train clients regarding their health and fitness needs. This he does through the design of safe and effective exercise programmes, providing the guidance to help clients achieve their personal wellness goals.

“Being a medical centre, we are more than just about profits we are changing lives, we want to be involved in your development and we want to see you live a better life,” he said.

Ndisengei said after a consultation and health appraisal the client was assessed to gather baseline data which is used as a basis for developing goals and safe, effective exercise programmes.

“The process and data collected assists your personal trainer in identifying potential areas of injury, and reasonable starting points for recommended intensities and volumes of exercise based on those goals and fitness outcomes,” explained Ndisengei.

The Wanderers Sports Medical Centre was founded by Craig Govender who has assembled medical and allied professionals with a vision of creating winning athletes, bridging the treatment and conditioning gap between professional and amateur athletes, as well as creating a healthier society at large through the promotion of physical literacy and sport skills development.

The centre boasts a multidisciplinary sports medical team offering rehabilitation, weight management solutions, high-performance sports conditioning, sports and position specific conditioning programming across all sports, and community fitness programmes.
