Eight players and officials charged with match-fixing

JOBURG - The PSL has charged eight players and officials of clubs in the Premier Soccer League with match-fixing.

Eight players and officials of clubs in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) have been charged with match-fixing and will appear before a Disciplinary Committee on 30 March.

In a statement, the league said it would not name the players and officials allegedly involved in the match-fixing scandal. “Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and investigation, the PSL is withholding the names of the individuals concerned in order to ensure that the process runs without prejudice to the rights of the respondents,” the statement read.

The league said the investigation into match-fixing was an ongoing investigation and would not rule out more people being hauled before the committee in future.

The officials and players will appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee on 30 March at 6pm. The PSL will give detailed information after the Disciplinary Committee has released its findings.
