The former St Stithians Boys College pupil earned his first five-wicket haul in Test matches in only his fifth appearance. Rabada ended with impressive figures of 5/78 as England were dismissed for 323 on the third day.
However, it was to no avail as England won the match by seven wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-Test match series.
Rabada’s great bowling display could not have come at a better time for the Proteas with Dale Steyn out for the rest of the series.
The 20-year-old fast bowler first rose to stardom in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup where he claimed figures of 6/25 against Australia in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
In February last year, Rabada took a record 14 wickets in a match for the Bizhub Highveld Lions against the Dolphins which included 9/33 in the second innings. His 14/105 are the best figures in the franchise era of South African cricket.
The final Test starts at Centurion on 22 January.
