Upcoming race in Tembisa

TEMBISA - Tembisa's 10km run and walk is nearly here.

The organiser and founder of Tembisa Street Mile, Donald Mathipa, hopes the run and walk will attract more than 1 500 runners and walkers onto the streets of Tembisa on 8 November.

“The race and walk will start and finish at Moses Molelekwa Arts Centre. The start time for both the run and walk is 8am, regardless of the age divisions,” he said.

Mathipa said middle-distance runner and world champion, Caster Semenya, will make her debut in the race this year and will go up against the defending champion and race record holder Lebogang Phalula from Soweto.

Registration will take place on 7 November at the centre from 10am to 6pm. Late registrations will also be taken on the day from 6am.

The registration fee for the 10km run and walk is R60, and the fee for the Boys and Girls Mile is R20.

All race finishers will receive a medal and a Futurelife hamper.

The following streets will be affected from 8am to 11am including RTJ Namane Drive and Star, George Nyanga, Brain Mazibuko and Freedom streets. “We apologise for the inconvenience,” said Mathipa.
