VIDEO: Wits looking to make amends

JOBURG - After missing out on the MTN8 title, Bidvest Wits will be looking to make amends when they travel to Polokwane City's home ground in the first round of the 10th edition of the Telkom Knockout.

Wits – under the guidance of three-times Absa Premiership winning coach, Gavin Hunt – has not won any silverware since he took over three seasons ago.

Wits defender Siyabong Nhlapho admitted that his team needed to produce more consistent performances if they were to be a force to be reckoned with in South African football.

“I believe we can play in all types of conditions, and at the end of the day there must be a winner and we will be going out there to win,” he said.

“We are quite disappointed with the previous competition and I think this is an opportunity to make amends with this cup and at least get silverware this season.”

Nhlapho, who has been a key component in the Wits defence this season, said the fact that they were playing away would not affect the team.

The 2015/16 Telkom Knockout will kick off on 30 September, and the balance of the first round of matches will be played on the weekend of 3 and 4 October.
