Phasha, a member of Fourways Martial Arts Academy will be part of a group of children representing Gauteng at Karate South Africa’s National Development, SA Open and Elite Championship to be held in Durban from 23 to 25 July.
“I am very excited about the upcoming competition and motivated,” said Phasha.
“I am now eyeing national colours.”
Her mother Sannie said, “I knew that she works hard in sport but I did not expect all these achievements. It is quite a nice surprise. She has the potential to reach the top if she does not change her commitment.”
Phasha was encouraged by her father to take up martial arts to improve her discipline and build her character.
Phasha holds the following titles:
- Best Kata 2014 Orange Belt at Fourways Martial Arts Academy Goju-Ryu award evening
- Gold in Kata, Green Belt 11-year-old category at Ekurhuleni Karate Development Championship
- Gold in Kumite (fighting), Green Belt 11 year-old category at Ekurhuleni Karate Development Championship
- Bronze in Kata, Green to Blue Belts 11-year-old category at Gauteng Karate Federation Development Championship.
