MIDRAND - The Midrand Cricket Club (MCC) hosted its annual sixes tournament at the Olifantsfontein oval.

Day one, saw Nedbank Cricket Club and The Admirals Club topping their pools to set up play-off matches against last year’s finalists Old Timers and Balls of Fire, respectively, for a a place in the semifinals.

Admirals beat Balls of Fire to get into the final. The second day held a few surprises with one of the underdogs, TAL forging their way into the semifinals after beating Old timers, and a knife-edge one-run victory against Nedbank to get into the finals.

The final between Tal and Admirals went down to the wire with Tal sealing a 12-run victory over their more fancied opponents. However, Admirals cleaned up at the awards function as their leading batsman Dirk Breedt walked away with both the leading scorer and the player’s player of the tournament awards, and teammate Brinsley du Plessis scooped the leading bowler award.
