Midrand’s young Swimmers excel

MIDRAND - Gauteng underwater hockey came home with two gold medals and two silver medals from the annual South Africa Junior Inter-Provincial Underwater Hockey Championships.

The group entered five teams to participate in the competition that took place from 26 to 28 February, at the Kings Park Pool in Durban.

The team that regularly practices at Christ Church facilities in Erand in Midrand, represented the Gauteng province well.

Their U15 and U19 boys got gold medals while the girls teams in the same age group earned silver medals.

To put the cherry on top of a successful weekend, seven of the U19 players were chosen to represent South Africa at the Junior Underwater Hockey World Championship that will take place in Castellón de la Plana in Spain from 6 to 15 August this year.
