26 boys chosen for cricket tour to Sri Lanka

MIDRAND - Diverse Sports held a cricket tournament at Midrand High School, with Midrand High School, Glen Austin High School, Reddam Waterfall, Summit College, Crawford College and Wendywood High School participating in the tournament.

Director of Diverse Sports, Loshnee Iyer, said the aim of the tournament was to select 26 boys to go on tour to Sri Lanka from the 2 to 12 October.

She added, “The highlight of the tournament was a visit by former cricket player Andre Nel who spoke to the boys about never giving up when situations are difficult whether it be sport or any other aspect in life.”

“We are all also very excited about the tour and can’t wait to start training with the squad. Training will take place on a weekly basis during the weekends,” said Iyer.

Crawford College Lonehill won the tournament. Adriaan Kotze from Crawford College was batter of the tournament, with Kyle Pillay from Midrand High School named bowler of the tournament. The player of the tournament was Richard Fasen from Crawford College.

Twenty Six boys who will go on tour are Richard Fasen, Avela Tom, Adriaan Kotze, Bradley Liebenberg, Shaylin Maibchund, Sean Musgrave, Devashker Moodley, Devarshen Moodley, Joshua Frack, Titan Harth, and Ross Wilkonson and Cameron Shaw from Crawford College. They will be joined by Matthew Robinson, Davied Mak, Josh Haimon, Ziyaadh Ebrahim, James Gouvlas and Nikola Kritanov from Reddam Waterfall. Jarred Moses from Wendywood High School and Jarred Govender, Neshalen Moodley, Kiran Naidoo, Nathanial Naidoo, Kyle Pillay, Mark Cornish and Callum Grindrod from Summit College will join in the tour. The coaches are Conrad Du toit, Chamendra Sujan and Kieran Rogers.
