Taxis going to and from Vorna Valley are a nightmare

MIDRAND – Taxi drivers have no courtesy or sense of urgency, says a resident.

Magaret Zulu of Vorna Valley writes:

Taxis from Vorna Valley are such a stress.

I use taxis daily from Vorna Valley to Boulders Mall and they pass the Spar and park there until the taxi is full. Taxi drivers delay us [passengers] all the time and they have no sense of urgency or care that we are going to work. Sometimes the taxi takes a full hour to fill up in the mornings – they should at least take into account that we have jobs to get to. A trip that should take less than 20 minutes ends up taking a whole hour.

I cannot wait to get my own car and get out of these taxis which are not roadworthy in the first place. But until I get a car, many taxi users and I have to sit and panic while the taxi drivers wait, which in my opinion is very unnecessary.

When the taxi finally leaves for Boulders, it will speed and they overtake and drive on the curb with the taxi almost off the road on one side. It is sad that a mode if transport used by so many is such an inconvenience.
