Lawlessness in Midrand

A motorist, who asked to remain anonymous, writes:

I cannot understand how Metro police can stop cars to check their licences when nothing is done about taxi drivers.

On 18 August in the afternoon a taxi stopped in the middle of 8th Street in Noordwyk just before Summerhill School.

The taxi driver left the door and boot open and waited to pick up passengers. Three cars behind the taxi had to suddenly slam on brakes, thank God that my daughter and I did not hit other cars because of this.

We tolerate bad driving by taxi drivers everyday.

There is a school on 8th Street, what if schoolchildren had been trying to cross the road at that time when the taxi just stopped?

Are there different rules for taxis and another set of rules for other motorists?

Metro police must heavily fine taxi drivers who do not abide by road rules.
