Ponelopele matriculants pledge to abide by exam rules

Prior to the start of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams on October 30, Gauteng MEC of Education Matome Chiloane led an important event at Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School to prepare the candidates.

The event on October 23, included the NSC examination pledge signing ceremony, where Chiloane encouraged the candidates to sign a pledge committing to uphold the NSC examination code of conduct.

This pledge emphasises the integrity and dedication of each learner taking the exam and helps to avoid any irregularities during the exam.

Chiloane explained that the pledge was introduced in 2013 with a commitment between stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of exams and to encourage learners to avoid plagiarism.

He emphasised the importance of the pledge and urged learners to read and understand it fully.

Moreover, Chiloane also provided a media briefing on the province’s readiness for the upcoming exams and updated on the online admissions learner placement process for grades 1–8 learners in the following year.

The visit to Ponelopele Oracle Secondary School set the tone for the NSC exams, and Chiloane’s presence inspired the learners.

Paballo Seshoka, a former learner of the school who graduated from the University of Joburg with an LLB, encouraged the matriculants to believe in themselves and trust God to overcome any challenges they may face during the exams.

She also urged them to seek assistance from their teachers and friends, if needed.

“Life is full of challenges and we are not always guaranteed an easy ride. However, it is important to have faith in yourself and trust in God. You should also take advantage of the support system that is available to you, including your teachers and friends, and ask for help when you need it. This will help you to enter the exam room with confidence and without doubts,” Seshoka explained.
