Essential livestream talk for IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall aspiring teachers

Aspiring teachers are encouraged to embrace new possibilities in the teaching and learning process.

In a recent livestream talk, Professor Heloise Sathorar shared her insights with fourth-year IIE Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching students at IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall.

As an acting deputy dean and lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Nelson Mandela University, Sathorar has extensive experience to offer.

During the talk, she emphasised the need to shift from traditional teaching methods to becoming a more informative intellectual in the classroom.

She urged teachers in the 21st century to be facilitators of learning, equipping learners with the skills and knowledge required to succeed.

Sathorar encouraged students and aspiring teachers to embrace new possibilities in the teaching and learning process.

Her talk promoted critical pedagogy and focused on being a reflective and transformative educator in the context of future experiences.

Kelita Angath, a fourth-year Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching student and VC Voice member, thoroughly enjoyed the livestream session as she found it very informative.

“Professor Sathorar promoted critical pedagogy in the context of the experiences that we may have in the future. It was informative and interesting to listen to different lecturers’ views about teaching methods. The session focused on being a reflective and transformative educator,” said Angath.
