College connects local schools with high education expectations

The IIE's Varsity College Waterfall firmly establishes a connection between local schools and the expectations of higher education

Recently, representatives and principals from various local high schools came together at The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall for the annual Brunch Connect.

The main aim of the event was for the college to maintain relationships with feeder schools and establish new ones with other schools in the Midrand community.

Edenglen High School, Curro Clayville, Curro Sagewood, Reddam House Helderfontein, High School Uitsig, Midrand High School, Noordwyk Secondary School, and Wordsworth High School representatives had the opportunity to explore the IIE’s Waterfall campus and interact with key campus staff on August 16.

Curro Sagewood High School head Johan du Toit, The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall campus head Avadhi Ghela, and student requirement head Warren Clarke chat during the Brunch Connect.

Warren Clarke, the newly appointed Waterfall campus head of student recruitment, expressed the importance of these partnerships, as students now have more options than ever when choosing higher education.

“As head of student recruitment, I believe that it is extremely important that we network with our feeder schools, as this is where we get the majority of our prospective students from,” Clarke said.

“The Brunch Connect event was a great success, and they look forward to maintaining and expanding their school contact network in the future. The college aims to build fruitful relationships with teachers and principals on a personal level.”

Forming these partnerships with schools informs them about what the college offers and what their learners can expect when choosing higher education in fields such as the School of Education, School of IT, School of Management, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and School of Law.

The college PR and event coordinator, Nicolien Kriek emphasised the importance of these ‘connect’ sessions to build strong relationships with schools in the community.
