10 000 food items donated to local care centres

Parents and learners ensured that together they partnered up to feed the hungry and help neighbouring communities.

Beaulieu College’s effort to raise 6 700 tins for Madiba Day was a journey bound for success.

With strong support from the school community and a driving force that was instrumental in reaching the goal, the school was able to easily achieve the desired outcome.

The college raised close to 10 000 non-perishable food items that were donated to various charities in Midrand and surrounding.

Tumelo Home is one of the care centres that received the donations.

Parents and learners ensured that together they partnered up to feed the hungry and help neighbouring communities.

The 67 minutes on July 18 extended far beyond Madiba Day as the school saw both learners, parents, and teachers all join hands in packing parcels for their community.

The school would like to thank N Sing, Karan Sing of Grade 10 A, and Klebb class who was instrumental in ensuring the school secured a visionary sponsor from Dursots Foods, who made sure the school reached its goal.

“We would also like to thank the PTF for their donation, the staff of Beaulieu College, parents, and learners for all their contributions to helping us reach our dream,” said the school in a statement..

Among the charities that received the donations are The Village Safe Haven Buccleuch, Ashraf ul Aid- Refugee Donations, Hearts of Hope Orphanage, Makeba Home for Abused Women, Tumelo Home for the Mentally Ill, New Jerusalem Children’s Home, and Laxmi Kali Shiva Temple.

Furthermore, 150 bags of food were distributed on the side of the road in the Spirit of Mandela Day.
