Cedarwood Prep School recently hosted Leigh-Anne Routledge, a clinical psychologist and creator of Camleyfluffs, on March 28.

Camleyfluffs’ are a range of furry animal friends that aim to help children to become smart about their feelings.

According to its website, being emotionally intelligent affects the quality of our lives because it influences behaviour and relationships. “An emotionally intelligent child can read their own emotions and those of others. They can also understand and label feelings and regulate themselves.”

Routledge provided an insightful presentation on the importance of emotional intelligence to the school community. How to support children to develop resilience and manage their emotions and spent time answering pertinent questions from parents and staff.

According to Meagan Demartinis, head of the school-based support team, Camleyfluffs will be implemented at the school. “As a school that strives for best practice, we are implementing the use of the programme within the school-based support team and psychology department, through emotional intelligence workshops in class and individual and group therapy sessions,” said Demartinis.
