From gymnastics and music, to art competitions, learners have demonstrated that hard work leads to extraordinary results.

In September, a determined group traveled to Cape Town for the Gymnastics Nationals, accompanied by coaches Lettah Stokes-Thubakgale and Fisokuhle Sikhosana.

Their preparation yielded impressive results: Koketso Mohlake and Phatsimo Moumakwe each secured first place in tumbling gymnastics for the U12 and U13 age groups, while Havilah Dupya placed fourth in the level 5 U13 category.

Phatsimo also excelled in the Women Artistic Gymnastics Nationals, achieving second place in vault.

In August, another group of talented learners represented the school at the Show Your Talent Nationals in Vanderbijlpark, where the marimba band earned a high gold medal and first-place trophy.

The school’s success continued at the South African Championship Performing Arts Nationals in Rustenburg, where they won 40 medals across four categories – open, contemporary, jazz, and original work – along with an overall trophy celebrating their consistent excellence.

During the Allegretto Eisteddfod Provincial in Benoni, solo pianists Paniel Mathlaba and Clara Mbakou achieved exceptional A+ marks. The school’s vocal duo and marimba performances also received outstanding scores of A+ (88%) and A+ (100%), respectively, earning another first-place trophy.

Artistic talent was further showcased in the provincial round of the Baswa Le Meetse National Art Competition last year, where the school secured first place and R10 000. This year, Grade 7 learner Smangele Nsele represented Gauteng in the nationals in Benoni, once again achieving first place, this time winning R20 000.

Koketso Mohlake got first position in tumbling gymnastics level 4 U11/12.

The school expressed immense pride in Smangele’s accomplishments: “We could not be more thrilled to see our learner excelling on such a prestigious platform. Our next step is to ensure our learners gain access to more local and international art competitions to continue showcasing their talent and gaining exposure.”
