Nova Pioneer Midrand Senior learners engage in Mock Election Campaign.

Nova Pioneer Midrand Senior learners in Grades 7-10 recently participated in a Mock Election Campaign organised by the school, in collaboration with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

The event aimed to educate learners about the electoral process, voting, and democracy, providing them with hands-on experience in decision-making and civic engagement.

The workshop, led by IEC representative Lefa Qhinebe, featured an interactive presentation that engaged learners in discussions about the importance of elections and the role of citizens in shaping their communities.

Following the educational session, learners were given the opportunity to cast their votes for the school’s top priorities, reflecting their interests and concerns.

A total of 131 learners participated in the election process, showcasing a high level of
enthusiasm and interest in shaping the future of their school.

Some learners had the chance to develop their own campaign highlighting what they believed to be of great importance and to rally their peers to support their cause.

After a spirited campaign period, the More School Trips campaign, led by Kholo, emerged as the victorious choice among learners.

The campaign focused on advocating for increased opportunities for educational outings and experiences beyond the classroom, emphasising the value of hands-on learning and holistic
Education.

Pule Letshweni, marketing associate and event organiser at Nova Pioneer said, “We are thrilled to see our learners actively engaging in the democratic process and advocating for initiatives that enhance their educational experience.”

“The Mock Election Campaign not only deepened their understanding of democratic principles but also empowered them to voice their opinions and contribute to shaping our
school’s priorities.”

The success of the More School Trips campaign reflects the learners’ desire for enriching educational experiences that go beyond traditional classroom settings.
