The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall partners with Noordwyk Primary School to paint classrooms

The Khumo initiative completed a variety of projects including augmenting the school’s library and incorporating a JoJo tank.

There has been ongoing progress with the Khumo (Kid Heroes Under the Mentorship of Others) initiative being carried out at Noordwyk Primary School by the IIE Varsity College Waterfall.

Last year, IIE’s Varsity College and IIE MSA launched Khumo, its own CSI initiative, and each IIE campus partnered with a primary school for two years.

The IIE’s Waterfall campus in partnership with Noordwyk Primary embarked on a wide variety of projects including augmenting the school’s library and installing a JoJo tank at the school last year.

Through these partnerships, the school ensures sustainable development and has a positive impact on local communities.

As the initiative continues, the IIE’s Waterfall held a painting day of classrooms at the primary school on May 26.

A total of 15 IIE students and staff, with the help of some Noordwyk learners, painted six of the school’s classrooms.

Said Ira Meyer, a Grade 3 teacher from Noordwyk, expressed gratitude to the college for continuing with their generosity through this initiative which is proving to be a success.

“I have been saying to all the volunteers and anybody who wants to listen that I have worked here as a teacher since 2017 and that our classrooms have always looked like this [unpainted].

“So, seeing these beautifully painted classrooms means everything to me, the children, and my colleagues. I don’t have words to express how excited we are to come to school and enjoy our newly painted classrooms.”
